Pep Guardiola has admitted feeling "shame" after an exchange with a camera operator in the wake of the Citizens' loss at Newcastle this past weekend.

At full time, an emotional Guardiola entered the St James’ Park pitch and had heated discussions with the referee, Sam Barrott and Magpies midfielder Bruno Guimarães, while also handling the broadcast crew's equipment.

"I apologised," Guardiola stated. "I feel embarrassed, ashamed, when I see it. I don’t like it. I immediately apologized to the operator. I am who I am. With a thousand matches under my belt I’m not a perfect person, I make huge mistakes."

"What is for sure, I defend any team and my club, without a doubt. The reason why I support my squad is clear – based on my career to win the Premier League we have to do 100 points, high nineties, otherwise we don’t win it."

City's Position and Manager's Take

The team sits in third and trail leaders Arsenal by seven points following their fourth loss of the season. "Losing four games out of 12 we have to improve a lot," he conceded. "Technically, we can still achieve all."

On the subject of his talk with the Newcastle player, Guardiola said: "I've known him a long time and every time after the game, home or away, we converse. Our paths always cross and we get along well. I love it. I'm passionate, I love to talk and move my hands."

He wouldn't mind should a rival coach addressed his squad right after the final whistle. "Not if it's respectful like I always have done, it's fine," he noted, before referencing Barrott. "He was part of it for 95 minutes, 98 minutes, constantly. My God, he was involved."

Debatable Calls

City were unhappy that the officials did not award City a penalty on a Schär tackle against Foden, and doubted if Guimarães was offside on Barnes' goal the decisive strike. Pictures published later show he was level.

Upcoming Milestone

He will manage of his 100th Champions League game versus Leverkusen on Tuesday. "That's impressive, it means that every season we have been there," he said.

The club has ten points from four matches in the group, and Leverkusen hold five.
