Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Bahrain, as Iran launched operations throughout the Middle East in response for a large-scale and ongoing offensive targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an vicinity close to the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any impact is uncertain and the US has remained silent.
Regional Interceptions
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait - all home to US military bases - reported they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their air space.
In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the offensive on Iran launched by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That preceding assault - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on areas associated with the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump encouraging the people of Iran to rise up against the regime.
Regional Fallout
In Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE stated that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses engaged the projectiles with notable success and successfully intercepted a number of missiles," it added.
Officials reported debris fell on a populated district in the capital, causing some structural damage and the death of one civilian.
The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
