The Journey of a Movement can be characterized by clear stages.

1. The Grand Vision

A dominant personality or leaders propose a revolutionary approach offering a solution for disconnected individuals.

And so it goes. Plans are in motion to confront the system overseas. Pressure is mounting. Smoke is rising from within. One individual, exposed, nervous, the slogan POSITIVE INTENT displayed prominently in chicken blood, has emerged from the field and is taken aside in secrecy to a different team in county cricket.

Do you recall the beginning, when the world was still young? The initial phase, of pure instinct.

2. Initial Adoration

Cult leaders guarantee a new start, a brighter tomorrow, love, success among a group united in belief in the big idea.

How did it feel at first? Players celebrating enjoying success. Tattoos. Forearms. Determination. Peak performance vibes. Of course, The squad often say it’s not a real term, ironically because if it doesn’t exist, what exactly did I just watch?

Yet it’s clear what it is. It’s the batsman executing a stroke so depraved it’s beyond belief. It’s the thrill of Ben Stokes at his peak, a look that says: pensive Nordic god, rugged appearance, hair woven from beaver hide, truly contemporary you almost imagine to look down and see him playing in the field shirtless and cradling a wild salmon.

It’s Ben Duckett still being allowed addressing the media, resembling a joyful figure formally attired, expressing thoughts like we’re breaking down traditions. Indeed, the atmosphere, initially, was uplifting.

3. Expansion Period

Development stage. Cohesion maintained via memorization of key phrases. These ideas are often illogical to prove commitment.

Is it just me? The criticism, the anger, the disappointment after the first Ashes Test defeat feels overblown, unwarranted. The performance was poor during the match, as history shows. They were torn apart in the field in a short span as the bowling and captaincy fell apart, outplayed by Travis Head batting like England but better, adjusting to the pitch, an athlete shining with aura.

Now there is the pile-on, the frustration, the sense of English Test cricket as a failure. The feeling seems to be that England don’t just need to lose, they must be humbled, to be purged, obliterated, defeated by the vengeful purity of the bowler’s action, the low-fi orthodoxies of the veteran, out there celebrating his wickets modestly as if receiving a nice new fishing rod. What impact will this have?

4. Hate Bonding

Challenges surface because of mistakes. However, faults are ignored. It starts to feed on hatred of the outside world.

In truth, half a week out from the second Test, we are at an intriguing moment in the journey of this movement. England could quite easily win in Brisbane in a blur of adrenal disruption. Alternatively, failure may follow. Should they fail it feels like we really might be entering the decline.

Ahead of this, a couple of points to consider about this. Previously, at the start, of optimism and energy, I wrote an article calling it a phenomenon. Criticism followed, which demonstrated since it’s clear the best way of proving that it’s not a closed group is should followers send hundreds of furiously one-eyed messages denying scrutiny of its truths.

Recent events recently are fascinating. Opposition to the style is now the trend. Social media is furious, critical analysts, pictures of upset supporters abroad missing out on play, like a room full of timeshare owners seeking justice.

Conversely, we have the wider backdrop of the opponent’s mixed deep-seated frustration with the aggressive tourists, stating, the methods you value and have honed as one way of separating yourself from the opposition, well, it’s all a bit of a gag in the end old boy.

Here lies the truth. Everything is a cult. The approach was a phenomenon as the game has its own culture. In fact, the sport in England is closed, a circle, a private event, a closed world with a long history of ceremonial past supporting it. Historically, this was where entry is limited. It’s the imperial sport of the British, the pioneering brand. And surprisingly, the country is a phenomenon, a series of esoteric hierarchies, a place that literally still has a king.

The team have been isolated within this world for years. Seeking change, to build a better atmosphere, they are just repeating their past, creating another a bubble, a closed circle, but now with a new team and a leader who wants you to be yourself provided you conform.

Stay present. Embrace challenges. But no matter how fast and far you run, you’re always basically in the same place.

Reflecting on this, it is perhaps the moment to offer compassion for the approach, to appreciate its good points, which are significant. What is Bazball? Encouraging expression. Defying norms. Batting aggressively|Attacking with
