Automobiles in German City Discovered Marked with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Officers mentioned they were notified by a resident who discovered a car in Hanau smeared with red-colored liquid

Roughly fifty vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the German municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by police.

Automobiles, exterior walls and postal boxes were marked, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they announced in a statement.

Law enforcement state they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a man observed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued substance.

The substance had been placed in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they reported.

Law enforcement then discovered multiple other smeared cars and residential walls in the surrounding area.

Swastikas are banned in Germany under laws prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.

Law enforcement state early analysis suggest the liquid was most likely human blood.

"Currently there is no indication as to where it came from; authorities are not yet cognizant of any physical harm in association with the event," they stated.

City officials said they were trying "to unravel the incident" and have asked to the public for details.

A high-ranking representative stated the vandalism rendered him without words and had to be addressed promptly.

"This act strikes at the center of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the extremist attack five years ago," he posted on a platform, referring to the murder of nine victims by a shooter focusing on residents of migrant background in five years prior.
